We got all rejuvenated thanks to Writer Camp, and we turned that newfound energy into some sweet new ways that you can get a little more Barrelhouse into your lives this fall. (We also watched The Room, many of us for the first time, and now communicate primarily in ten-year-old Tommy Wisseau memes. Oh hi Mark! You're our favorite customer!)
Do you want to hang out with writers, editors, and publishers in a relaxed, oh-so-Barrelhousey environment? Get practical advice on writing that you can use as soon as you get home? Sit down with an editor for a 10 minute, one-on-one consultation and get feedback on the spot? Join us in Pittsburgh for Conversations and Connections on October 21, from 9 a.m.—5 p.m.
Pre-order Year 14, our newest book, and save two bucks.
I picked this book out of a big slush pile last summer, knowing nothing about the author, because I just absolutely loved it.— e-Mike Ingram (@mikeingram00) September 19, 2017
We are currently accepting submissions for the Barrelhouse of Horror, our online Halloween issue. Eat a bunch of candy and send us what you've got.
Looking forward: poetry will open for submissions for the month of October.
Issue 17 is on its way to the printer. In addition to that awesome warrior space lady, you'll get poetry, fiction, and our experiment: one long ( piece of nonfiction. When our nonfiction editor started to read the piece, he texted everyone else about a) how amazing it was and b) how afraid he was that it would start good and slump. It did not. We printed it in all of its novella-length glory.
